MTS India launches smartphones, CDMA roadshow

MTS India launched three new MTS-branded smartphones supporting CDMA2000 technology, namely the Buzz, Ivory and Alive. At the same time, the operator launched the MTS-Qualcomm road show, a programme aimed at showcasing CDMA2000 technology in New Delhi. As part of a promotional offer, MTS provides 20 GB of data for the first two months at no extra cost to every customer buying one of these devices. MTS will be offering all its smartphone consumers limited and unlimited tariff plans ranging from INR 192 to INR 1,099.

Available in either white or black, the MTS-Buzz is a dual-mode (CDMA/GSM) messaging and social networking handset. It features a slim Qwerty keyboard, 2.4-inch screen, FM radio with MP3 player, 1.3MP camera and expandable memory up to 4GB. The MTS-Ivory can access MTS TV featuring up to 60 channels and features a 3.2-inch WQVGA full touch screen for an enhanced mobile TV experience. It also comes with Wi-Fi, a 2 MP camera, Bluetooth and expandable memory up to 4GB. The MTS-Alive is a 3G CDMA touch-screen phone with in-built Opera Mini Browser, expandable memory up to 8GB, multi-format music player, 1.3 MP camera with video recording and Bluetooth with A2DP for wireless stereo music streaming. All three phones provide direct access to as much as 15 social networking sites and offer fast internet connectivity with speeds up to 3.1 Mbps in ideal conditions.

As part of the MTS-Qualcomm initiative, an air conditioned vehicle will be stationed at different locations in Delhi over the next 60 days. The vehicle features three special zones namely 'Lifestyle zone,' 'Gaming and social networking zone' and the 'Infotainment zone' for customers to experience the latest devices and applications based on CDMA technology. Each zone features a mix of the latest devices from MTS where a customer can experience the new features with broadband connectivity. The gadgets include Qualcomm's Kayak, Hame HM Wi-Fi router, the recently launched MTS-branded smartphones and BlackBerry handsets. The operator organised a number of contests aimed at the visitors of its CDMA2000 caravan.
